As a youngster growing up on the country side, I found myself yearning for the ease of access that came with the big city. Now that I have relocated to a metropolitan area, everything seems excessive. Match that with the materialistic ways of society and you’ve got yourself a conglomerate of mini hoarding situations all living right on top of each other. I myself even ended up with an apartment that is nearly over stocked. What ever happened to my semi minimalist ways? When did I acquire so much clutter? Has it always been this way and now I just live in a smaller space? Either way, this is gonna take some adjusting. Plants, toys, electronics and gardening supplies are what I have most of currently. I sense a plant sale coming on even if it just means giving them all a good trim and selling or giving away the cuttings. The toys are mostly baby toys and need to be rescreened to make sure they are safe. I have learned more about plastics lately and so I will make sure they re free of things like phthalates. The electronics are mostly mine. I am a tech hobbyist and this seems to be the way many industries are moving so I think I will hold on to these things. They are computers, adapters, and printers mostly so they should serve as useful tools once there is adequate room for them. Power tools technically fall into this category as well however, in an apartment there is hardly anywhere to do wood working projects. I built my bedframe when I first moved to the city and since then I haven’t used them much besides to build a shelf. The drill can stay however what need is there for the saw, router, and sander? Part of me thinks that creative work arounds can allow me to process wood outside at a home improvement store or something. Then comes the idea of what to make. I would like a mini desk to roll around because my large one is pretty much stationary although it has wheels. As for the gardening supplies they were mostly used for hydroponics and when I had a grow tent. Since I sold my grow tent I just have additional supplies. I believe I can fashion these supplies into a watering and aeration system for my existing plants that way the guess work is taken out of watering them. So actually it seems to me now that instead of having too much stuff it is appearing that way because I am not using it. Why I am not using it could be blamed on many a thing but at the end of the day it comes back to time management. So the moral of this ongoing story is “work with what you got”. Before I go purchasing anything else which is so easy to do in a place like this, I will think to myself how can I do it myself? after all the name of our YouTube channel is DIYPOV! So until next time keep shaping the way you view things so that your point of view works best for you. Set up an assembly line in your house if you have to. Make room for those hobbies that you once enjoyed. Who knows they may turn into another stream of income. At the most basic level, you will be doing something that you truly enjoy instead of sitting through countless meetings and lectures that could’ve been sent in an email or working meaningless dead end jobs. Embrace your interests and if you do not know what you might like, start exploring yourself. Ask yourself questions and get to know yourself. Start a journal as this will help you keep track of your thoughts. Go back and read your entries and pay attention to what you have been feeling. You might surprise yourself! Reading books is great especially when it’s a book you wrote yourself! until next time, be well and keep imagining! -Jai’Kir
